Linerless labels
Labelling without waste and without compromise
Switch to a more sustainable and efficient way of labelling. With our linerless labels, you are choosing an innovative solution that requires no liner paper or print ribbon. These thermal labels are printed directly on the roll (without backing), so you can use the full label areal. The result: less waste, lower consumption costs and a more flexible labelling solution.
- Up to 60% less material consumption
- No waste from liner paper or print ribbon
- More labels per roll = fewer roll changes
- Variable label sizes without roll change
- Strong adhesion, even in moisture or cold
What are linerless labels?
Linerless labels are direct thermal labels that – unlike conventional labels – do not require any carrier material (backing or liner). The label material is provided with a special topcoat and an adhesive layer that is only activated after cutting, preventing the labels from sticking together on the roll. With to this technology, the labels can be cut to the desired length during the printing process, ensuring maximum flexibility.
Why choose linerless labels from Marisan?
Completely waste-free
Without backing paper there is no residual waste when printing or applying the label. That means: less cleaning time, lower waste costs and a more environmentally friendly workplace.
Up to 60% less material consumption
The production of linerless labels consumes considerably fewer raw materials than conventional labels. No liner means a significant reduction in paper and silicone use. Moreover, this results in a reduced CO₂ emission per square metre of label material.
Variable label length with one width
Because the labels are only cut to length during the printing process, one roll of fixed width is sufficient. You determine the length of each individual label yourself. This makes linerless particularly suitable for applications with varying information or formats, without having to replace the roll.
More labels per roll = less downtime
As the liner is eliminated, up to 40% more labels can be placed on the same roll. Fewer roll changes mean fewer interruptions, lower handling costs and more efficient production.
Less storage and transport
Less material also means less volume. This reduces the space required in your storage area and saves on transport costs.
Choice of adhesive strength
The labels are available with different adhesive strengths:
- Permanent adhesive: for applications requiring long-lasting adhesion
- Removable or repositionable adhesive: ideal for the pharmaceutical sector or logistics applications where relabelling is common
Printer requirements: only with specially equipped linerless printers
To correctly print and cut linerless labels, you need a printer specifically designed for this type of material. Linerless rolls are not compatible with conventional label printers.
We recommend the Toshiba BV420D-GL, an advanced direct thermal printer with integrated cutting technology that is perfectly suited for use with linerless labels. This printer cuts the labels to the desired length during the printing process and prevents the labels from sticking together. Using this combination of hardware and material, we guarantee reliable, safe and efficient operation.
